Seckford Street is a long, narrow residential road made up of a mixture of old cottages and houses on either side and is said to have a maze of ancient underground smugglers' tunnels linking various properties with St Mary's Church on the nearby Market Hill and the river. There are also stories of ghostly goings-on in some of the nearby houses! Tara Cottage is at the town centre end of Seckford Street with the Market Hill about 50 yards away where there is The Kings Head pub, various dress and antique shops and an internet cafe. The Seckford Arms pub is about 60 yards away in the opposite direction and overlooks Fen Meadow - there is a footpath through Fen Meadow which eventually takes you to another part of the river, passing The Cherry Tree pub if you get thirsty on the way! The main shopping street with the bakers, newsagents, grocers, small supermarkets and a mixture of little independent shops are all within easy walking distance, as are the river, railway station, cinema, pubs and public swimming pool too. Tara Cottage is an end of terrace cottage, dating from the 1800s, and has recently been renovated and refurbished to offer contemporary and comfortable accommodation for 4/5 people. The main entrance door leads from the parking space straight into a well fitted kitchen which has a built-in electric oven and hobs, a microwave, washing machine, tall fridge/freezer, a radio/cd player and ample cooking and dining equipment. Off the kitchen is a lounge/diner with soft seating, a wide screen TV and DVD, a cast iron mock wood burner, and a dining table and chairs. There is a telephone which accepts incoming calls only and 999 and wireless broadband internet access. From the kitchen, stairs go up to the first floor where there is one bedroom with a single bed, a second bedroom with a kingsize bed and a third bedroom with a double bed - one side of this bed is against the wall so access for a fifth guest is difficult. The spacious bathroom has a mains shower over the bath, wash basin and w.c. The owners provide duvets, pillows, all bedlinen and teatowels but please remember to bring bathroom towels with you. Gas central heating serves radiators throughout the house. There is also an electric mock woodburner in the sitting room. There is a parking space for one car behind the cottage, just in front of the garden decking area. Please do not park on the 'through way' beside Tara Cottage as this is private access to three other properties. Due to the new refurbishments and the high standard of presentation, only one, small, disciplined pet and well behaved children are allowed. Smoking is not permitted at Tara Cottage.
