As the address implies, this roadside, period cottage is within a stones throw of the river and has far reaching views down the Deben from the first and second floors. Situated in the centre of Woodbridge, the shops, pubs and restaurants are all close at hand and, for an alfresco breakfast in the courtyard garden, fresh bread from the bakers and a daily paper from the newsagents are just up the road. The Anchor pub, the Riverside Restaurant and cinema, the swimming pool and railway station are all within very easy walking distance and, as there is so much to do (or not do if you so wish!) in Woodbridge, you can either arrive by public transport or park your car and forget it for the duration of your holiday! There are some lovely walks along the river and whether you wander beside the river at high or low tide, there is a wide variety of bird life to watch and plenty of fresh air. You could also walk up to and cross over the A12 and head into the countryside - Hasketon Turks Head is a popular, friendly local. Once two dwellings and believed to date from the 16th century, 16 Quayside offers character accommodation for up to 6 people and boasts the features one would expect to see in a Grade II listed building - steep stairs, wonky wooden floors and a large open fireplace. Sitting room with open fire Dining area Kitchen area First floor double bedroom Although there is a front door, the main entrance is via the garden at the rear of the property, up some steps to the back door and into the ground floor, open plan living accommodation. This large room is sociable, cosy and very much the heart of the house as anyone in the kitchen can still talk with people in the sitting room and a long lazy meal at the dining table can enjoy the glow of the open fire. 16 Quayside is very well equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, radio/cd player, TV, DVD and ample cooking and dining facilities. There is a telephone for incoming calls only and 999 out. Behind a door in the sitting room, steep curved stairs go up to the first floor where there is a double bedroom with an adjacent bathroom with a shower over the bath, washbasin, shaver socket and w.c. From the first floor landing and behind another old door, further steep, curved stairs go up to the second floor and straight into the first of two twin bedrooms. Both of these bedrooms have windows to the front and the back which afford views of the river and towards the town. Between the bedrooms is a small bathroom with a sit-down hip bath and a shower over, washbasin and w.c. The owner provides duvets, pillows and all bedlinen, but please remember to bring bathroom towels and teacloths with you. As well as the open fire, a gas boiler produces central heating to radiators throughout the house, and all hot water. There is a pleasant little enclosed garden with outside furniture and table and chairs. Parking is available on the private land by the back gate although a space is not guaranteed. One, small well behaved dog is allowed and children are most welcome. Smoking is not allowed.
