As the name of the cottage suggests, Milliner's was a hat maker's shop where, once upon a time, 'head attire' was designed and made for the lady folk of Woodbridge. Recently refurbished, Milliner's is now a holiday home, sleeping up to four people, and is being offered for self-catering holidays when not required by the owners. Seckford Street is a long, narrow residential road made up of a mixture of old cottages and houses on either side and is said to have a maze of ancient underground smugglers' tunnels linking various properties with St Mary's Church on the nearby Market Hill and the river. There are also stories of ghostly goings-on in some of the nearby houses! Milliner's is at the town centre end of Seckford Street with the Market Hill about 75 yards away where there is The Kings Head pub, various dress and antique shops and an internet café. The Seckford Arms pub is about 60 yards away in the opposite direction which overlooks Fen Meadow - there is a footpath through Fen Meadow which eventually takes you to the river Deben, passing the award winning Cherry Tree pub if you get thirsty on the way! The main shopping street with the bakers, newsagents, grocers, small supermarkets and a mixture of little independent shops are all within easy walking distance, as are the river, railway station, cinema, pubs and public swimming pool too. Entering through the red front door, you go straight into the sitting room where there is comfortable soft seating, a small flat screen TV, DVD and open fire. For those bringing a laptop with them, there is a broadband wireless router for free internet access. There is also a telephone for incoming calls only and 999 out. Open stud work, and a step up, separate the sitting room from the dining room and, after two further steps up, this in turn leads into the kitchen where there is a fridge with an ice making compartment, electric cooker, microwave, slimline dishwasher, washing machine, mini radio/cd player, breakfast bar and adequate cooking and dining equipment. Beyond the kitchen and another step up, is the back lobby off which is the bathroom with a mains shower over the bath, WC and wash basin. The back door goes out into a little communal passage way and six steep steps go up to the rear gardens and to the small, sunny gravelled area belonging to Milliner's. There is a garden bench as well as a wrought iron table and chairs. Back to the sitting room and steep, narrow, curved stairs go up to the first floor and the first bedroom which has a double bed. Behind a stair door on the little first floor landing, a second flight of steep, curved stairs go up to another bedroom with two single beds. The owners provide all bedlinen and bathroom towels, and a gas boiler located in the back lobby produces hot water and central heating to radiators throughout the house. Although the garden is not enclosed, one, small well behaved dog is allowed at Milliner's and children over the age of 10 are very welcome.
