It is rare to find a 5 star property but Lodge Cottage has everything and certainly deserves the accolade.
Situated about two miles west of the A12 and about 5 miles north of the popular riverside market town of Woodbridge, Hacheston is a small, pretty village surrounded by lovely countryside and is made up of a variety of houses of all shapes, sizes and ages. There is a little village store, a garden nursery with a good farm shop, a family garage business and a fine church. For further shops, pubs and restaurants, Wickham Market village is less that 2 minutes drive away, with it regionally renowned butcher. The ancient market town of Framlingham and its famous castle is less than 10 minutes drive away, Woodbridge is under 15 minutes drive and, on the coast, Orford, Snape with the Maltings Concert Hall, Aldeburgh and Thorpeness are within easy reach. Minsmere nature reserve, Dunwich and Southwold are also readily accessible. The medieval towns, ‘chocolate box’ cottages, narrow little country lanes, expanses of fields and the heaths, beaches and forests of Suffolk make for a great day out exploring and sightseeing – there is so much to see and do and the location of Lodge Cottage makes a great base to start from. Alternatively, for a lazy day at home, the large garden, patio and balcony offer places to snooze and relax with a book – there are tables, chairs and sun loungers for visitors to use and a BBQ for the alfresco chef. The large, heated outdoor swimming pool offers welcome relaxation and fun throughout the summer.
Lodge Cottage is a thatched, detached, weatherboarded property situated in Hacheston Lodge grounds and offers very comfortable, peaceful accommodation for five/six people. To take advantage of the large first floor room and the slight slope Lodge Cottage is built on, it is an ‘upsidedown’ house with the bedrooms on the ground floor. The entrance door leads into the utility room which has a washing machine, tumble dryer, storage cupboards and space for wellies and outdoor coats. Stairs go up to a galley style kitchen which has a larder fridge, freezer, an electric cooker with a double oven and halogen rings, dishwasher and microwave. Beyond the kitchen is a shower room with a corner cubicle, WC and wash basin. From the kitchen, glazed double doors lead into a large living room which has a relaxing ambience. There are squashy sofas, a large TV, video and a DVD, a portable cd/cassette radio player, a payphone (mobile reception is good), books and a good sized dining table and chairs. A further set of glazed double doors go out onto a sunny balcony with its wrought iron furniture and steps down to the garden.
In the corner of the living room, a flight of stairs go down to the ground floor. There is a bathroom with a telephone hand held shower over the bath, WC, wash basin, bidet and shaver socket. The three bedrooms have a double, a twin and a space saver single (a second single can be pulled out from under the main single but this does make the bedroom a little cramped). The owners will be happy to provide a travel cot and high chair so please remember to request these at the time of booking should you need them. Please bring your own cot linen.
As well as the private patio and balcony, there is a large area of grass beyond the secluded parking area for visitors’ use and over seven acres of gardens and paddocks to roam. Visitors also have use of the owners’ outdoor heated swimming pool between May and September and can enjoy the adjacent public footpaths to relax, explore and exercise.
There is full gas central heating throughout Lodge Cottage and the owners provide duvets, pillows and all bedlinen and towels (please remember to bring your own swimming towels). To ensure that their guests feel happy and comfortable as soon as they arrive, there is a surprise welcome package.
A maximum of two, clean, trained dogs are welcome but please do not allow them to go in the pool area or onto the furniture - a dyson hoover is provided so please ensure that all traces of your pets are removed at the end of your stay. Children are most welcome but parents must remember about the pool and accompany all youngsters at all times. There is a no smoking policy inside Lodge Cottage but visitors are welcome to indulge outside on the verandah or balcony and anywhere in the garden. Please remember to dispose of your 'dog ends' thoughtfully and carefully.. Please note, arrival day access is 3.00pm.
At the time of making your booking, we will request a cheque for £50, made payable to the owner, which will be held against any dilapidations or for any extra cleaning or laundering. This will either be shredded or posted back to you after your holiday. Bed and Breakfast is available in the main house for any occasional visitors.
