Waldringfield is a small and popular village located on the banks of the River Deben, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, about 6 miles south of the riverside market town of Woodbridge. It has a busy pub, a sub Post Office open on a part time basis and church and, as it is only about a mile and a half from the main A12, offers the visitor a rural location, beside water yet within easy access of the main roads leading throughout Suffolk for great exploring! There is a good golf course on the outskirts of Waldringfield which is open to non-members on a pay and play basis.
Low Farm is on the outskirts of the village beside open fields but is still within walking distance (about a mile) from the river and pub. These five self-catering holiday properties have recently been converted from redundant single storey farm buildings to provide accommodation for about twenty people and have been awarded a 4 star self-catering grade by the English Tourism Council. To ensure that Low Farm can cater for all preferences of the holiday maker, the owners also run a small successful hideaway caravan and camping complex on a large field set away from the cottages. Should visitors wish to explore the local country lanes by bike, the owners have a selection of cycles for hire.
These individual, self-contained properties are located around a central courtyard which can become fully enclosed when the entrance gates are closed – even with the gates closed, the area can not be guaranteed child proof. It has been designed to be a friendly communal area with outside tables and chairs under pergolas, a BBQ and various floral containers and small ornamental trees. Each property has a stable door as the front door and double garden doors from the living area, both which draw the visitor out into the courtyard for outside socialising and relaxation. The summertime greenery of the wisteria, vine and other shrubs and climbers form natural barriers for privacy between the properties and outside. The courtyard is the main garden but there are areas of grass beyond the garden gates for visitors to lie and relax on. As long as children are supervised by an adult, they may play on the large field adjacent to the caravan and camping area. Also beyond the garden gates is ample space for cars and even sailing dinghies and trailers.
There is a television, video/DVD, radio/cassette player, electric cooker, microwave, fridge and adequate cooking and dining facilities in each property. Laundry facilities are available on request in a separate communal laundry room. The owners can provide a travel cot and high chair if it has not already been reserved and this should be requested at the time of booking your holiday. There is oil fired central heating serving radiators and the owners provide duvets, pillows, all bedlinen and towels but please bring your own beach towels. A small welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar and milk is left for guests’ arrival.
