Rear of Old Post OfficeMarket squareSituated in the very heart of this popular riverside village and a stones throw away from the church, The Kings Head pub, The Crown and Castle Hotel, Orford’s famous castle and the little supermarket, The Old Post Office has been extensively refurbished to provide extremely pleasant accommodation for six/eight people.

The river is an amble away and there are narrow little lanes around the village with quaint little cottages tucked away.

The popular towns of Aldeburgh, Thorpeness and Woodbridge are a short drive away whilst the many places of interest to visit and explore throughout Suffolk make a pleasant day out for all the family.   No matter what time of year it is, the nearby forests and woods have miles of lovely walks.

EntranceLibraryThe front door of The Old Post Office goes into an entrance hallway off which, to the right, is the ‘Library’ - a reception room with a flat screen, LCD combi TV/DVD, a mini hi fi system, plenty of books and DVDs and a double sofa bed for occasional overnight visitors.   The letter box is still used and the mail is collected at about 4.30 most afternoons.   Also to the front of the house and to the left of the hall, is another small sitting room with another LCD TV, a DVD, an ornamental fireplace (must not be used) and comfortable soft seating.

At the back of the house, is a dining room with French doors leading out to the patio and rear garden and an ornamental fireplace (again, not ot be used) ; a breakfast room where there is also a wireless router for internet access and a telephone; a well fitted kitchen with built in electric oven and hobs, tall fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and ample dining and cooking equipment.

A back door in the lobby beside the kitchen has further access to the rear garden. In bad weather, it is possible to gain access to the house via the back garden gate and wet coats can be hung in the lobby to dry over the boiler. A high chair is also provided.

Master bedroom Second double bedroom Twin bedroom

Upstairs there is the family bathroom with a shower cubicle, WC and wash basin and three bedrooms.   The spacious master bedroom to the front of the house overlooking the Market Square has a wrought iron double bed and an ensuite bathroom with a mixer tap shower over the bath, WC and wash basin.   The second double bedroom also overlooks the Market Square and the small twin room to rear looks down onto the garden and to the river in the distance.

Bathroom En-suite bathroom Rear garden

The garden is fully enclosed and has a sun-trap terrace with wooden outdoor furniture, a small BBQ and, in one of the outhouses, is a working WC.   The other outhouse has space for bikes and essential crabbing equipment!  As well as the terrace, there is a small area of grass and some flower beds.

The owners provide duvets, pillows, all bedlinen, together with towels and teacloths.   Oil fired central heating serves radiators throughout the house.  Parking is available on the Market Square.

Due to the new refurbishments and the high standard of presentation, only one, small, disciplined pet and nice, well behaved children are allowed but smoking is not permitted inside The Old Post Office.

Please note that holidays run from Friday to Friday at The Old Post Office, and visitors are politely requested not to get to The Old Post Office before 3pm on arrival day.
